Spent two full days in Japan - definitely a fan. The two days couldn't have been more different. Day one was in Osaka with all the crazy little vendors and visual cacophony, and not a small affinity for... plastic food? Put out front to market real food inside, but also as jewelry, decor, etc. Very odd to western eyes.
Had best-sushi-ever at a sushi counter joint, and our last dinner was exceptional as well, at what was almost literally a hole in the wall... the door came up to our chest area, and inside there were only Japanese natives.
The bamboo forests and temples of Kyoto were far more serene. If it's serene with 5000 of your closest friends sharing it! Gorgeous, and so glad we got to go.
